ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Tuesday reiterated his party’s staunch opposition to recent legislation he believes contradicts the Quran and Sunnah, vowing to resist such laws at all costs.

Speaking at an event here, Rehman condemned recent legislation by the government and its allies, warning that he would never accept any law that contradicts the divine teachings of Islam. “We will not follow laws that oppose Allah’s commands.”

He criticised the current political landscape, emphasising that politics is no longer a domain for the righteous. He recalled so many people had questioned his involvement in politics, saying, “Maulana, you are a good man – why are you doing politics.”

He expressed his disdain for what he called the “politics of manipulation,” where individuals attain power through rigged elections. He proposed that such politicians are hailed as leaders despite their dishonest methods. “The politics of today is no longer for the noble; it is a legacy of the prophets, centered on leading with integrity,” Rehman remarked.

He also expressed his indifference to imprisonment or even death, stating that he would accept any punishment for opposing the laws that contradict Islamic teachings. “It is better to face any punishment than follow the laws that go against the Creator,” he added.

He strongly urged Muslims to reject any laws that disobey Allah’s commands, asserting that adherence to such laws is impermissible for true believers. The JUI-F leader took aim at the political elite, accusing them of feigning religious observance while imposing a legal framework that contradicts Islamic principles.
