LAHORE: All is set to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day on Thursday (today), to express whole-hearted support of the Pakistani nation to just struggle of Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination under the UN resolutions.

One minute silence will be observed at 10.00 am, to pay homage to the martyrs of the liberation struggle of occupied Kashmir. Human chains will also be formed at Kohala and other points linking Pakistan and Azad Kashmir.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to address the AJK legislative assembly in Muzaffarabad on Thursday (today).

The day will be observed with great national zeal showing commitment to the people of Kashmir to their cause. It will be public holiday on Thursday. In connection with the day, solidarity walks, seminars, exhibitions will be organised across Punjab like other parts of the country and Azad Jammu Kashmir.

Radio and TV channels will present programmes to highlight Kashmiris struggle while newspapers will also bring special editions.

Kashmiri leader have urged the international community, the United Nations and human rights organisations to take notice of the grave human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir. India cannot suppress the freedom movement of Kashmiris through oppressive use of force and state terrorism, they said, adding: Kashmir is an unsettled issue of partition and Indian leaders had promised in the United Nations that Kashmiris would be given a chance of plebiscite under UN supervision so that they could decide their fate according to their own wishes.

They said India has been committing atrocities in Occupied Kashmir at large scale for several decades. They added that Kashmiris are rendering unmatched sacrifices to achieve their birth right of self-determination and Pakistan will continue its moral, political and diplomatic support for the people of Kashmir in their just struggle for right to self-determination.
