Gul Plaza tragedy: Governor visits Delhi Colony to offer condolences
KARACHI: Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori visited Delhi Colony to offer condolences to the family of six members who were martyred in the Gul Plaza Shopping Mall tragedy.
He met the bereaved relatives and expressed deep sorrow. He prayed for eternal to the departed souls and patience to the grieved.
Talking to the media, the Governor said that six members of a single family lost their lives in the Gul Plaza fire incident. Even after the passage of twelve days, no culprit had been arrested, which was a matter of serious concern.
The public wants to know whether those responsible have been punished or if this tragic incident was being ignored. Administrative negligence in preventing the rapid spread of fire had come to light and those involved must be arrested immediately, he asserted.
The Governor, however, termed the Sindh government’s decision to constitute a Judicial Commission a positive step. He said that there was no substitute for a human life and that the state owes an apology to the affected families. Referring to PTI and Jamaat-e-Islami, the Governor said that the PTI MPA from the constituency did not play any role in providing relief to the victims after the fire tragedy. The Town Nazims of Jamaat-e-Islami also failed to reach the Gul Plaza site when Gul Plaza Shopping Mall was burning.
Tessori assured the families of the Gul Plaza tragedy victims and the affected shopkeepers of complete support, stating that the state stands with them.
On the occasion, under the Smart City project, a plot file was also handed over to the family of the martyrs.
