ISLAMABAD: The Presidents of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are scheduled to visit Pakistan in the first week of February 2026, official sources told Business Recorder.

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is expected to arrive on February 3–4, followed by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev, who will visit on February 5–6, 2026.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reviewed preparations for the high-level visits and issued directives to the relevant authorities to ensure timely completion of all arrangements.

Minister for Establishment and Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema has been tasked with overseeing approvals of all pending Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements on the Pakistan side, including Cabinet approvals, in accordance with the following cut-off dates:(i) Kazakhstan – January 27, 2026; and(ii) Uzbekistan – January 29, 2026.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been directed to provide a list of all pending MoUs and agreements — including those awaiting Cabinet approval and those pending on Pakistan’s side — to the Minister for Establishment and Economic Affairs, the Prime Minister’s Office, and the Secretary Cabinet for follow-up.

The Minister for Establishment and Economic Affairs will also chair a sub-committee comprising Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kiyani, along with representatives from the Ministry of Commerce, TDAP, SIFC, and the Board of Investment (BoI), to review preparations for business forums with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

The Petroleum Division has been directed to engage relevant stakeholders and the Uzbek side to explore avenues of cooperation in the mining and minerals sector, where Uzbekistan has significant expertise.

Meanwhile, the Minister for Interior will convene a meeting of all relevant departments and stakeholders to review security arrangements for the visits of both presidents and subsequently brief the Prime Minister.

The Minister for Information has been tasked with coordinating with the Foreign Secretary and the Chief of Protocol regarding cultural programmes for the two high-level visits.

The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production will serve as Minister-in-Waiting for the visit of the President of Uzbekistan, while the Minister-in-Waiting for the President of Kazakhstan will be announced by the Prime Minister in due course.
