PM Shehbaz vows to defeat terrorism through unified effort

  • Pakistan was created to implement the principles of peace, says premier

PM Shehbaz meets members of the Qaumi Paigham-e-Aman Committee

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has stressed the need for unity to deal with challenges including terrorism and extremism.

PM Shehbaz said this while talking to members of the Qaumi Paigham-e-Aman Committee, who called on him in Islamabad.

The prime minister expressed the confidence that the committee would play a pivotal role in strengthening the national narrative against extremism and terrorism, similar to the historic role played by Ulema and Mashaekh in the creation of Pakistan, the PMO said.

“Pakistan was created to implement the principles of peace, justice and tolerance. Forging unity is needed today more than ever before,” he said.

He commended the significant role of the minorities in the development of Pakistan and their valuable services in different sectors including education, health and defence.

Shehbaz particularly mentioned Cecil Chaudhry and Justice Rana Bhagwandas for their commitment and unforgettable role for Pakistan.

The premier said Almighty Allah has blessed Pakistan with vast natural resources worth trillions of dollars, which, if explored effectively, could help overcome challenges such as poverty, unemployment and debts. He said if we use the hidden treasures, all our problems will end.

He said the country is now steadily moving towards prosperity and stability. However, there is dire need to stamp out terrorism once and for all, he added.

Turning to sacrifices of the nation and the armed forces of Pakistan in the war against terrorism, PM Shehbaz said Pakistan demonstrated its strength in May 2025 during Marka-e-Haq when it decisively defeated India.

He said India was defeated because of the blessings of Allah Almighty and the professional capabilities and prowess of the armed forces under the leadership of Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

He said the international community should acknowledge Pakistan’s immense sacrifices saying that the country possessed solid evidences of external support being extended to the terrorist elements in Pakistan.

The prime minister reaffirmed the government’s firm resolve to defeat terrorism through a unified national effort.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar said the national narrative to curb terrorism and promote peace and stability would be further strengthened.

He said the members of the Qaumi Paigham-e-Aman Committee would visit different cities of the country to convey a message of peace and counter hate-based narratives.

Convener of the Qaumi Paigham-e-Aman Committee, Maulana Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, Allama Ragib Naeemi and other Ulema expressed their unflinching commitment to support the government’s efforts to crush terrorism and extremism from the country.
