PESHAWAR: Commiss-ioner Kohat Division Syed Motasim Billah Shah has reviewed progress on the proposed Kohat–Kharlachi Rail Link.
In this regard, a meeting was held, attended by the senior Pakistan Railways officials and Deputy Commissioners from Kohat, Karak, Hangu, Orakzai and Kurram districts and other officials concerned.
The Participants examined the technical, administrative and economic aspects of the planned 192-kilometre modern Rail Track.
The meeting was told that once completed, the project is expected to improve trade, tourism and passenger connectivity, while stimulating economic activity across Kohat Division, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and beyond.
Commissioner Shah said the multi-billion-rupees project would help address long-standing transport and commercial bottlenecks, create new employment opportunities and better integrate underdeveloped areas into the national economy. He added that residents of Kohat, Karak, Hangu, Orakzai and Kurram would be direct beneficiaries.
The meeting emphasized accelerating planning, feasibility studies and inter-departmental coordination to ensure timely implementation.
Officials said the project is being advanced under the guidance of the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with oversight from the Project Management and Reform Unit (PMRU).
