KARACHI: Like in other main cities of the country, the new year 2026 was gracefully and colourfully greeted by Karachiites.
The fireworks were seen throughout this mega city and musical shows were also held at different places.
The Governor House took lead where record record-long duration high quality fireworks show was held in the presence of thousands of people representing different sections of society and different age groups.
Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tissori addressed the gathering and recounted the achievements of the country on political, social, economic and defence fronts during 2025.
He hoped that the new year would bring more successes and prosperity for the nation. National songs were also played, which enthralled the big gathering of the charged people. Prayers were also held for the welfare of the people, and for security, integrity, development and prosperity of the country.
Other prominent places in the city were the Sea View, Grand Port Land and Bagh-e-Ibn-i-Qasim, where musical shows were also held, along with big fireworks shows.
With clocks striking 2400 hours (midnight), the people, especially charged youngsters, came out on the roads and streets to share their joy on the arrival of the new year. The city echoed with aerial firing.
