ISLAMABAD: In a significant show of support for Saudi Arabia, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to its longtime ally, underscoring the need for peace and stability in the region through continued diplomacy and open dialogue.
The prime minister made these remarks during a high-level phone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), which the prime minister described as warm and cordial.
The exchange highlighted the growing cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, especially at a time when the Middle East is facing escalating geopolitical tensions, regional instability, and complex security challenges.

Sharif took the opportunity to convey his respectful regards to both King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed, reiterating Pakistan’s strong respect for Saudi leadership.
“We are committed to furthering the fraternal bonds between our nations,” Sharif said, emphasizing the strengthening of bilateral ties, which he noted have reached new heights in recent years.
The leaders discussed several pressing regional issues, with Sharif stressing the importance of maintaining unity and harmony among the Ummah amid mounting geopolitical and security challenges confronting the Muslim world.
In return, Crown Prince Mohammed expressed his gratitude for Sharif’s outreach and reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation with Pakistan in areas of mutual interest. A particularly warm note in the conversation came when the Crown Prince indicated the possibility of an official visit to Pakistan in the near future, signaling Riyadh’s ongoing interest in further deepening its relationship with Islamabad. In a related meeting, Sharif hosted Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Saeed Ahmad Al-Malkiy, at the Prime Minister’s House.
The two leaders discussed recent regional and global developments, with Sharif emphasizing the crucial role of dialogue and diplomacy in maintaining peace and stability across the Middle East and beyond. This meeting further solidified Pakistan’s commitment to nurturing its enduring ties with Saudi Arabia.
A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office confirmed that during their discussions, Sharif expressed his satisfaction with the strong relationship between the two countries. He stressed that Pakistan would continue to pursue avenues for strengthening this partnership, particularly in light of Saudi Arabia’s long-standing support for Pakistan in times of crisis.
Sharif also reflected positively on his productive engagements with Crown Prince Mohammed throughout the year, commending their joint efforts to boost bilateral cooperation.
He praised Saudi Arabia’s significant role in regional peace and stability, along with its ongoing support for Pakistan in global forums.
