KARACHI: Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) Director General Air Vice Marshal Zeeshan Saeed has ordered the removal of any outdated promotional content at airports nationwide to maintain updated information for travellers.

Speaking during an e-Kacheri session focused on improving passenger services, AVM Saeed announced that the new General Aviation Aerodrome in Lahore’s Muridke area will become operational in early 2026.

The modern facility is being developed to support pilot training programs and promote overall aviation growth in the region, the DG PAA revealed during a recent briefing on various aviation initiatives.

He also announced that the ongoing recruitment process would be completed soon with support from the Civil Aviation Training Institute, addressing staffing needs at various facilities.

The PAA chief directed a comprehensive review of safety measures at Islamabad Airport’s functionary parking area. Addressing passenger grievances, DG Saeed said complaints regarding delayed and damaged baggage would be “firmly taken up” with airlines, terming aggressive behaviour by airline staff as “unacceptable.”

He emphasized that security screening remains mandatory for all passengers without discrimination, underscoring PAA’s commitment to maintaining consistent security standards.

On emerging aviation challenges, the DG PAA disclosed that a policy for civilian drone use has been finalized, with consultations ongoing regarding registration and tracking mechanisms to regulate unmanned aerial vehicles.

Infrastructure development continues at other facilities as well, with upgradation work including runway improvements currently in progress at Dera Ghazi Khan Airport, according to PAA officials.

The DG PAA also stressed the importance of passenger awareness regarding baggage-related rules, encouraging travellers to familiarize themselves with regulations to avoid inconvenience during their journeys.
