Indian air travel crippled as IndiGo hit with ‘operational crisis’

MUMBAI/DELHI: Air travel across India was in turmoil for a fourth day on Friday after IndiGo cancelled around 500 flights, including all departures from New Delhi, prompting the government to announce special relief measures for the country’s largest airline.
In a bid to improve air travel safety, Indian authorities have introduced new stricter regulations limiting pilot flying times and placing tighter restrictions on their operation of night-time flights.
