Security forces killed seven terrorists in two intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in North Waziristan, the military’s media wing said on Tuesday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were carried out on December 1 after reports of terrorist presence in the Mir Ali and Spinwam areas.

In the first engagement, troops launched an IBO in the Mir Ali area, where six terrorists were killed after an exchange of fire. A separate operation in Spinwam resulted in the killing of another terrorist.

At least 22 Indian-sponsored terrorists killed in Bannu IBO: ISPR

The ISPR said weapons and ammunition were recovered from the terrorists, who it described as Indian-sponsored and allegedly involved in attacks on security forces, law enforcement agencies and civilians.

Sanitisation operations were underway in the surrounding areas, the statement added.

The military reiterated that its counterterrorism campaign under the Azm-e-Istehkam framework, approved by the federal apex committee on the National Action Plan, would continue “at full pace” to eliminate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
