ISLAMABAD: The Federal Constitutional Court has fixed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s petition on alleged election rigging for hearing on 25 November, moving the matter back into the spotlight after weeks of political back-and-forth.
Chief Justice Ameen-ud-Din constituted a five-member larger bench to take up the case. Justice Aamer Farooq will lead the bench, while Justice Ali Baqar Najafi, Justice KK Agha Khan, Justice Rozi Khan and Justice Arshad Hussain Shah will also sit on the panel.
The case reached the Constitutional Court after PTI’s senior lawyer Salman Akram Raja filed a plea in the Supreme Court seeking the formation of a special election tribunal.

However, following the 27th Constitutional Amendment, the matter was shifted to the newly empowered Federal Constitutional Court, which now holds authority over election disputes.
PTI alleges massive irregularities and maintains that the election process was not up to the mark, urging the judiciary to look into the matter and “set the record straight.”
The party hopes that the hearing will help bring its complaints to the surface and ensure transparency.
Legal observers say the formation of the larger bench shows the court is ready to dig into the petition and handle the politically sensitive case with greater institutional weight.
