KARACHI: On the directions of Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab, the Karachi Metropolitan Municipality has formally initiated the tender process for the permanent rehabilitation of Jahangir Road and the reconstruction of the storm drain adjacent to it, making significant progress towards a permanent solution to a long-standing urban problem of Karachi.

After completing all internal stages, technical checks and necessary approvals, the tender for the rehabilitation project of Jahangir Road has been issued. Bids have been formally invited to hire contractors.

An amount of Rs. 300 million has been allocated for this project, which is being provided entirely from KMC’s own resources. This financial approval was given by the KMC Council.

The objective of the project is to rebuild and strengthen Jahangir Road on a long-term and sustainable basis so that citizens and daily commuters can get rid of the problems of dilapidation and inadequate drainage faced by them for years.

In addition, KMC has also approved the construction of an alternative road at the Natha Khan Bridge. The tender has also been issued for the construction of a major road in the city, which is an important connecting road. This Rs 780 million project will significantly reduce traffic pressure in the area and provide better travel facilities.

Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab directed all the relevant departments to expedite the implementation stages, ensure transparency at all levels and strictly adhere to the set timelines.

He said that the timely completion of these projects will play an important role in improving the transportation of citizens, solving problems and sustainable urban development. The Mayor Karachi said that the people of Karachi deserve reliable infrastructure and we are committed to providing it. These projects reflect our commitment to rebuild this city with effective, responsible and long-term planning.
