LAHORE: The China Agriculture Machinery Distribution Association (CAMDA) and the Punjab government have agreed to establish a joint working group to enhance collaboration in agricultural machinery manufacturing and distribution in Pakistan.

A delegation led by Punjab Minister for Agriculture Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani is currently visiting China to explore avenues of cooperation in agricultural mechanization and technology advancement.

The delegation included Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture Usama Khan Leghari, Secretary Agriculture Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, Director General Agricultural Information Punjab Naveed Asmat Kahloon, Director Planning (Field) Muhammad Waseem, Chief Technical Advisor Hafiz Abdul Rehman, progressive farmer Hassan Raza, and other senior officials.

During the visit, Minister Kirmani told the Chinese agricultural machinery distributions that practical measures are being taken to promote farm mechanization across the province. He noted that more than 1,200 companies manufacturing modern agricultural machinery are affiliated with the association.

The minister further stated that CAMDA had agreed to establish a joint working group with the government of Punjab to enhance collaboration in agricultural machinery manufacturing and distribution.

The association also expressed a strong interest in investing in Punjab’s modern agricultural machinery sector, and a Chinese delegation from CAMDA is expected to visit Punjab soon.

Kirmani emphasized that there are vast investment opportunities in Punjab’s agriculture sector, especially in mechanization and technology transfer. Secretary Agriculture Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahoo said that China is a global leader in the agriculture sector, while Punjab is emerging as a promising market for agricultural services and innovation. During the visit, an agreement was also signed with China’s National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration to enhance cooperation in reducing post-harvest losses and strengthening agricultural research and development.
