ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced that taxpayers intended to get de-registration of sales tax registration are now required to apply through computerized system online to the Commissioner-IR having jurisdiction.

According to Sales Tax General Order # 04 of 2025 (Operations) issued on Wednesday, the FBR has revised procedure on de-registration of Sales Tax in Terms of Section 21 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990 Read with Rule 11 of Sales Tax Rules, 2006. Whereas, requests of taxpayers for de-registration are processed in terms of Section 21 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990 (the Act) read with Rule 11 of Chapter I of Sales Tax Rules, 2006 (the Rules).

The taxpayers intended to get de-registration of sales tax registration are now required to apply through computerized system online to the Commissioner-IR having jurisdiction as required under sub-Rule (1) of Rule 11 of the Rules. No manual application for de-registration shall be entertained by the Commissioner-IR having jurisdiction.

How non-sence this department & the officers are ill minded. Who gave them power to de-registered sale tax….There is no need of such officers department. Is there no law to check their ability?
