KARACHI: The domestic bullion market witnessed a striking contrast on Tuesday as gold surged to an all-time high while silver recorded a mild decline, according to the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association.

Gold per tola jumped by Rs1,500 to close at all-time high of Rs416,778, and per 10 grams rose by Rs1,286 to Rs357,319.

The rally tracked a strong uptrend in the international market, where gold prices advanced by USD 15 to hit new historic peak of USD 3,955 per ounce.

Silver, however, dipped as per tola slid by Rs20 to Rs4,929, and per 10 grams fell by Rs17 to Rs4,225. International silver prices also eased by USD 0.20 to USD 48.30 per ounce, reflecting slower industrial demand.

It is worth noting that the open market may trade gold and silver at different prices as compared to those fixed by the association officially.
