KARACHI: Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PHMA) has elected its office-bearers unopposed for the term 2022-23.

According to the PHMA election results, which were announced in its annual general meeting held on Sept 26, 2022, Muhammad Babar Khan, Naseer Ahmad Butt and Khizer Mehboob have been elected unopposed as Central Chairman, Senior Vice-Chairman and Vice-Chairman, respectively for 2022-23 period.

The PHMA Executive Committee Members were also elected unopposed from Southern Zone are: Khizer Mehboob, Altaf Hussain, Iftikhar Ashraf, Saleem Parekh, Mohammad Riaz Ahmed, Mahmood Nara and Ayaz Ali.

The other Executive Committee Members who will continue for their second year term are: Abdul Rehman, Mohammad Babar Khan, Saqib Bilwani, Fawad Usman, Faisal Arshad Sheikh, Ali Murtaza Panju, Irfan Zakaria Bawany.

Khizer Mehboob, Central Vice-Chairman will also head the Zonal Committee as Chairman. Altaf Hussain and Iftikhar Ashraf have been elected Zonal Senior Vice-Chairman and Zonal Vice-Chairman, respectively.

From Northern Zone, the newly-elected PHMA Executive Committee Members comprises Izhar ul Haq, Shafqat Mahmood, Khawaja Mushraf Iqbal, Muhammad Zanoon Nazir, Hazar Khan, Muhammad Amjad Khawaja and Shaheen Tabassum.

The other Executive Committee Members who also continue for the second term are: Kashif Zia, Syed Nahid Abbass, Naseer Ahmad Butt, Abdul Hameed, Sheikh Hammad Kapoor, Moazzam Javaid and Tariq Mahmood Bhatti.

Naseer Ahmad Butt, Senior Central Vice-Chairman will also head the Zonal Committee as chairman. Muhammad Amjad Khawja and Khawaja Musharraf Iqbal have been elected Zonal Senior Vice-Chairman and Zonal Vice-Chairman, respectively.

The successful office-bearers and Executive Committee Members were supported by the Export Development Group (EDG) headed by Muhammad Jawed Bilwani, who is also the Patron-in-Chief of PHMA.

Speaking during the AGM, Jawed Bilwani expressed his confidence on the new elected representatives and hoped they will make all efforts to serve the association and its members selflessly and help solve their problems.

He sought their efforts to resolve the industry’s problems as well to help augment textile export.

Outgoing central chairman, Shahzad Azam Khan told the AGM participants that he and his team made sincere efforts to achieve objectives of the PHMA to enhance exports, safeguard genuine rights of members and address and resolve problems of the industry.

Newly-elected Chairman, Muhammad Babar Khan said that it was an honour for him to assume the office of the chairman for the year 2022-23. He paid tribute to Shahzad Azam Khan, saying: “The outgoing body in the lead of its chairman had actively promoted the interests of the value-added textile industry throughout the year”.

He pledged his services for the promotion and protection of the value-added textile industry.
