KARACHI: Kashif Mehtab Chawla, Chairman of the Towel Manufacturers Association of Pakistan (TMA) on Monday appreciated the federal government for releasing of DDT refunds to exporters under the notification 2018-21.

He said that a few cases of the export-oriented sector are still pending with the government for various reasons. He requested to the government to provide a relief in such cases and grant one-time extension for their submission.

It will be a huge help to the exporters and will not deprive them of their rights to claim refunds, he said.

He said that DDT notification of 2018-21 has already expired on June 30, 2022 and a new notification is due in this regard. Textile Policy 2020-25 has been published, which includes the tax refund policy.

A delay in issuance of DDT notifications is causing exportable goods to become uncompetitive on the world market besides a loss of the due export share.

He said that the notification of concessionary utility rates for the export sector lapsed on June 30, 2022, which should be re-notified immediately.

Continuation of both facilities will help exporters compete on the international market.
