Education ministry to decide on winter holidays today

  • Board examinations of the eighth grade, as well as moving the academic year from April to August will also be discussed.

Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood is chairing an Inter Provincial Education ministerial meeting today to discuss three agenda points.

The meeting is being attended by education ministers of all the provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.The meeting will discuss the ongoing coronavirus situation and winter vacations in educational institutions. Board examinations of the eighth grade, as well as moving the academic year from April to August will also be discussed.

Earlier, the education minister had refuted news of educational institutions being closed due to the spike in the coronavirus cases. "Rumours again afloat regarding school closures. It is again clarified that educational institutions are NOT being closed," he said.

Mahmood further said that the ministry will continue to monitor the situation as the health of the students, teachers, and staff is very important.
