Smuggled cigarettes worth Rs3.1m seized from Orangi Town

KARACHI: Directorate Intelligence and Investigation (DI&I) IR, Karachi has confiscated huge quantity of smuggled cigarettes worth Rs 3.1 million from Orangi Town area.

According to details, credible information was received that some unscrupulous elements had stored substantial quantity of smuggled cigarettes at a warehouse located at Orangi No 1, Milatabad Karachi.

Reacting on this information, the officials of the IREN Unit and DI&I raided at the said premises and recovered 114 cartons (1,140,000 sticks) of smuggled cigarettes.

Consequent upon the recovery, the goods were taken into custody and the legal proceedings have been initiated. The value of detained stock is estimated to Rs 3.1 million. Further investigation is under way.
