'Pakistan needed to give attention towards its image building'

Pakistan can overcome its financial woes by strengthening business-to-business interactions that is a prerequisite to expand economic activities and create better entrepreneurs. President Entrepreneurs Organisation (EO) Global Kevin Langley while talking to LCCI Senior Vice President Kashif Younis Meher said here on Tuesday. President EO Lahore Chapter Umair Virk was also present on the occasion.
Kevin Langley said that foreign businessmen would be more than willing to put their money in new ventures in any country of the world provided they got enabling business environment and safety of their investment. He said energy shortage was not only the issue of Pakistan but it was a global issue and all the governments needed to spend more on energy projects as it was one of the major industrial raw materials.
He said Pakistan had all the ingredients to become a global player in economic terms but it had failed to get its due place in the world market only because of its failure to tap its resources. Kevin Langley said Pakistan needed to give some attention towards its image building as there was no doubt that Pakistani merchandise were best of the best in the world.
He said EO that had 8,000 members around the globe was playing its role regarding the capacity building of its members as they were free to share their business experiences with each other. He said he was visiting Pakistan for the first time and found it a better investment destination therefore after going back he would try to convince his counterparts to make investment in Pakistan.
Kashif Younis Meher said LCCI was playing its due role for promotion of trade and industry in the country. "Over 100 sector-specific Standing Committees collect private sector feedback, analyse and after a thorough debate it is forwarded to the concerned government departments for consideration at the time of preparation of the Federal Budget."
He said Chamber monitored the budget, anomalies were identified and those coupled with revised proposals were again communicated to the relevant policy making departments. He said LCCI also kept liaison with the commercial sections of the foreign missions and an exchange of information was ensured. He said LCCI was also quite conscious of its Corporate Social Responsibility, adding it had two self-sustaining projects; Shalimar Hospital and LABARD on its credit. "The Shalimar Hospital is providing modern health facilities to the common people while LABARD is not only acting as placement body for the disabled persons of the society but also providing relevant training to the young minds in an effort to rehabilitate them."
