FBR should take immediate decision to withdraw taxes: APSIA

All Pakistan Sizing Industries Association (APSIA) will resort to protestation if their demands to withdraw the new taxes were not accepted.
Addressing a joint news conference here on Sunday Shakeel Ahmed Ansari Chairman, Haji Talib Hussain Rana Senior Vice-Chairman, Ashfaq Ahmed Butt Chairman Supreme Council, Haleem Aslam Malik Patron-in-Chief and Mian Muhammad Ayub General Secretary demanded of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to immediately withdraw SRO 821, and SRO 1012 and exempt sizing industry from all taxes and duties.
They said that earlier government had clamped sale tax of 16 percent on sizing industry on warping, sizing, processing, spinning and power loom units on March 19. They said that this taxation forced all factories in Faisalabad and Punjab to stop their business. However, on the interference of APTMA chairman Gohar Ejaz and Regional Chairman Syed Omer Nazar Shah the chairman FBR Abdullah Yousaf had ordered to withdraw SRO No 283 from April 1.
They said that it is astonishing that FBR has again clamped 21 percent Tax (Sale Tax 5 percent on registered Sales Tax invoices and 16 percent on raw material).
They said that sizing and other textile ancillary industry are also facing the brunt of unprecedented loadshedding and gas outage, which has affected their business and if new tax of 21 percent was imposed sizing and other related industry would totally collapse and render lacs of wage earners jobless and deprive government of very sizable revenue.
They demanded that FBR should take immediate decision to withdraw the taxes. They warned that if immediate decision was not taken, they would take convene an emergent meeting of the general body to take final decision to close down their units.
