Rak Airways, the carrier of Ras Al Khaima (UAE), has launched its operation from Pakistan and initially it intends to operate from Lahore and Peshawar twice a week. The airline's inaugural flight landed at the Allama Iqbal International Airport from Ras Al Khaima on November 11 and the airline is planning to launch its operation from Peshawar on November 16.
In this connection, a launching ceremony was held here, in which Rak Airways Country Manager Syed Moeenuddin told the guests that 'Small fare, big deals' is the slogan of the airline that intends to provide full services with compatible fares. He said there is huge potential in Pakistan; a large Pakistani population works in Ras Al Khaima and travels to Pakistan and they intend to attract them with compatible fares.
"We will operate twice a week from Lahore and Peshawar and more flights will be added in future," he added. According to him, at present they are operating with three Airbuses in 10 destinations, including Cairo, Jeddah, Khartoum, Doha, Kuwait, Dhaka, Chittagong, Lahore, Peshawar and Calcutta. However, by 2016 they are planning to expand its fleet to 10 and 38 destinations.
Abdul Qadir Aziz, Regional Manager of Rak Airways, said in the last 12 months they have successfully started operations in Africa, Gulf States and South Asia, and the airline is expanding. "We are the first foreign airline that has set up its headquarters in Lahore," he added. Mujtaba Amer Mian, CEO of Dimensions Travels (Pvt) Limited, also spoke on the occasion. It may be mentioned that Dimensions Travels is a General Sales Agent (GSA) of the Rak Airways.
