PML-Q leader and senior federal minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has criticised Punjab government for brutal operation against traders to shift fruit market in the city. He was talking to a delegation of traders from the Kot Lakhpat fruit market. Haji Muhammad Yasin led the delegation and pointed out that employment of about one million persons is affected due to this move of the Punjab government.
Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said his party had never tortured the occupants during land acquisition for development projects including Ring Road. Instead of bulldozing the properties, PMLQ government in Punjab offered reasonable price to get vacated the land. He said Punjab government has failed to clarify as to why land of fruit market is required, especially when the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has refused to fund the shifting of the fruit market.
