A drug peddler on Friday escaped from police custody on the way to City Court at Sir Syed police station remits. According to details, Sir Syed police arrested the drug peddler namely Faisal Munna Qureshi on late Thursday and seized 1 kg of hashish. DSP Altaf Hussain said a case 382/11 was immediately registered against him, as he was already wanted in three cases.
He said that four unknown armed riders intercepted police van at North Nazimabad near Inquiry Office and opened indiscriminate firing when they were on their way to present him and his Challan at City Court, leaving a police constable Shakeel in a pool of blood. Meanwhile, the detained drug peddler Faisal Munna took advantage of this abrupt drive-by attack and leaped from police van and escaped from his accomplices.
Later, SP New Karachi Town Zafar Iqbal took taken notice of this incident and ordered to arrest on duty policemen including sub-inspector Sohail and police constable Shakeel. He also directed to the concerned officer to register case against both policemen on account of their misconduct and initiated probe against them.
