Zafar Qureshi's suspension summary was signed by Prime Minister: Supreme Court informed

The Supreme Court was informed on Friday that the summary of Zafar Qureshi's suspension was signed by Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani. However, the Court gave AGP another opportunity to seek instructions from the government on determination of Qureshi's status in the case.
Zafar Qureshi had been suspended for speaking to the media for which a departmental inquiry was launched against him despite court orders to the concerned authorities to refrain from any disciplinary action against him without bringing the matter to court's notice. A three-member bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Khiliji Arif Hussain and Justice Amir Hani Muslim was hearing suo motu of multi-billion rupees NICL scam.
Maulvi Anwarul Haq, Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP), told the court that it was Secretary, Interior, who moved the summary to Secretary, Establishment, which was forwarded to the PM, with a covering letter, requesting him to sideline the official on what they called violation of Rules.
In the company of AGP, Secretary Establishment, Secretary Interior, Director Law FIA and Additional Director FIA Zafar Qureshi appeared before the bench. During the course of hearing, AGP presented all records including issuance of show-cause notices to Qureshi, along with the summary signed by the PM, which the court made part of judicial record in the case.
On the query of CJ whether those four officials, transferred earlier, shad tarted investigation in NICL scam, the AGP said that one of the four members of the investigation team whose transfer orders were reversed in the compliance of apex court orders, has come back, whereas others were intimated as they were posted in the far-flung areas of the country.
During the proceedings, Zafar Qureshi submitted that his phones were being tapped and his children were being harassed just for investigating a corruption scam. The CJ observed that the court was showing restraint whereas Zafar Qureshi was being threatened, adding that the bench might appoint a High Court Judge to probe the matter of show-cause notices served to Qureshi so that the issue could be settle once for all.
"If the government decides not to follow court's orders then the court will form a commission to probe the matter", the CJP said. The CJP said in his remarks, "We have to bring the NICL scam looted money back to the national kitty and order arrest of the accused". The AGP told the court that Secretary Information was examining who was the sponsor of advertisements against superior judiciary disseminated through media.
The CJP cited that Article 4 of the Constitution of Pakistan binds "all of us" to obey the Constitution and law, whereas he asked Secretary Establishment to go through the relevant Article every morning, adding that summary of Qureshi's suspension was drafted without any legal authority by the Secretary Establishment. The court adjourned the hearing till July 18.
