Published December 17, 2017 Updated December 17, 2017 02:57pm

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Sunday held a million march in Karachi against United States President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

The million march, led by JI chief Siraj-ul-Haq, was taken out from NIPA to Hassan Square.

The participants in large number were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans in favor of Palestinian and against the US president.

They demanded of the US president to reverse his announcement that has caused anger among whole Muslim world.

The participants warned the US president of widening the scope of protest across the world and said that they would continue the protest till the announcement was reversed.

They said that the US president was acting against the sentiments of Muslims which would never be tolerated at any cost.  Speaking on the occasion, Siraj-ul Haq said that his party was holding the march to express solidarity with the people of Palestine.

He strongly flayed the United States president's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.  Earlier, leaders visited Nipa and Hasan Square where they reviewed the preparations for the million march.

JI set up camps at the key points along the march route to facilitate the participants. Traffic plying this route was diverted to other roads to facilitate the protesters.

However, commuters faced problem in reaching their destinations. Earlier this month, JI had announced to hold countrywide protests over Jerusalem issue.

The beginning of which showed today. Whole Muslim world has shown anger against the US president over his recent announcement. The US European allies and Russia have also voiced worries about Trump’s decision.
