Minister for Defence Chaudhary Ahmad Mukhtar Thursday told the National Assembly that the Defence Ministry has no intention to extend the limits of Manora Cantonment Board Karachi and the issue could be resolved in consultation with all the stakeholders.
The minister said while replying to Calling Attention Notice raised by Abdul Qadir Patel, Iqbal Muhammad Ali Khan, Fauzia Wahab and others about establishment of Masroor Cantonment Board and extension in the limits of Manora Cantonment Board Karachi, that soon a meeting would be held in Karachi or Islamabad to discuss the issue to be resolved amicably. He said that around abut 2345 aircraft accidents were reported since 1993 due to hitting of birds. He said that in this regard, Senate Standing Committee has decided to include the area in the limit of cantonment to ensure cleanliness and help avoid air accidents.
