Deputy Speaker National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi on Thursday expressed dissatisfaction over absence of Law Minister from the House causing trouble in legislation process. The Deputy Speaker deferred "The Rulers of Acceding States (Abolition of Privy Purses and Privileges) (Amendment) Bill 2009" which was tabled for passage due the absence of the Law Minster for further consultation.
The Deputy Speaker said while drawing the attention of the prime minister who was present in the House that the law minister attended the current session only for one day and his non-availability is causing trouble especially in legislation. Earlier, Minister for State and Frontier Regions Najm-ud-Din Khan moved this bill in the House for passage.
Zahid Hamid of PML-N opposed the amendment in clause-III of the bill and said that the powers delegated to federal government were proposed by National Assembly and the Standing Committee but the Senate has changed the word government with parliament. He said that it is ridicules because the Parliament has the powers and this bill was moved to delegate the power to the Federal Government.
Najm-ud-Din Khan said that the concerned standing committee of the National Assembly has proposed to delegate authority to the federal government, but the Senate made amendment in clause-III. However, the minister requested the Speaker to defer the bill to resolve this matter. The Speaker deferred the Bill and asked them to sit together to resolve the issue.
