LAHORE: Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) disconnected nearly 3000 power connections of chronic defaulters during first phase and accelerated the drive for recovering Rs27011.71 million arrears from public and private sector entities.
Chief Executive Officer,LESCO,Sharafat Hussain Sial told APP here Wednesday that private and public sectors owed Rs20748.24 million and Rs6263.47 million arrears respectively.
LESCO has given final warning to other remaining public and private sector defaulters to clear their dues forthwith within the stipulated period or else face disconnection. "LESCO,following the instructions of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, has asked all defaulters whether they are government departments or private sector to clear their financial liabilities immediately.
The chief executive elaborated that all SEs,Xens and SDOs had been directed to expedite the recovery on top priority basis. "In case the defaulters fail to clear the outstanding dues within the deadline then they would have to face disconnection till paymwent of all arrears", he reiterated.
He said special cells, one each at circle, division and sub-division levels, had been set up for immediate restoration of power supply in case of payment of arrears.
Sharafat Hussain Sial explained that overall performance of all the officers was being monitored through a computerised network on daily basis and those showing better output would be rewarded,while those who failed to achieve targets would be taken to task.
Chief Executive categorically warned that if power supply of any defaulter was restored without payment of arrears, concerned SDO would be suspended forthwith.
He further warned that officers found guilty of bogus or excessive billing to cover up their distribution losses would also face action, while concerned meter readers would be suspended.
