After Wapda, Salman Butt eyes international comeback

Published December 16, 2016 Updated December 16, 2016 07:31am

imageThe former captain of Pakistan Test team Salman Butt was optimistic that he would soon get an international call, he lead his team WAPDA to their maiden Quaid-e-Azam Trophy on Thursday at National Stadium.

Salman Butt was impressive with the bat, after hitting two back to back centuries in each innings of the final of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.

I have knocked the door (of international cricket) very hard and hope this will pave my way for return to [the] Pakistan team, Butt told reporters, reported AFP.

The former Test skipper made headlines along with Muhammad Asif and Muhammad Amir after being involved in the infamous match fixing scandal that rocked the cricketing world.

However, after serving cricket ban and jail time Butt remains optimistic and keep himself fit, I want to keep myself fit and keep my form alive. I am trying my best with the best of my intention.

I have a wish and always want to be in every squad. I have the capacity, but that is something the selectors have to tell and decide, he added.

Last month, Pakistan's chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq stated that Butt and Asif will only be considered after they feature in first-class matches, reported First Post. Pakistan at the moment is touring Australia for a three-Test and five one-day matches.

After his impressive domestic performance Butt is likely to get chance for Pakistan's tour of the West Indies in March-April next year.
