PSB releases Rs1.5mn cash award for Hamza

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has released the cash award Rs 1.5 million for national snooker player Hamza Akbar for winning the Asian Snooker title for Pakistan held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last year.

A press release issued by Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) Tuesday said it had received the cheque from the PSB for handing it over to Hamza.

The PBSA lauded Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada and top the PSB officials for this recognition of the Asian Snooker title. "This will go a long way in encouraging the PBSA to further promote the game of snooker in Pakistan as well as our snooker players to perform and excel in international competitions and bring laurels for our beloved country, the press release added.
