LAHORE: Pakistan Standard Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) has started crackdown against substandard cooking oil, ghee and open edible oil products manufacturers.
All the concerned director have been ordered to accelerate market survey and initiate legal action against all these black sheep.
It was decided in a meeting of the PSQCA with Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturing Association (PVMA) which was chaired by Director General PSQCA Engr. Muhammad Khalid Siddiq here at the PSQCA, CA-North SDC Office.
Ghulam Umer Kazi Secretary PSQCA, Dr. Shehzad Afzal Dy. DG (QC), Muhammad Yasin Akhtar Director, CA-North, Ahmad Nadeem Iqbal, Director TSC and Muhammad Arif Qasim, Chairman, PVMA, Umer Islam Khan, Secretary General PVMA, Abid Malik, Director PVMA and other Members of PVMA were also present on the occasion.
It was also decided that a combined policy to handle black sheep in the industrial sector would be formed. Filler and open sale of cooking oil and banaspatti ghee would be discouraged and would be met with an iron hands.
Both the parties agreed to declare the Vitamin "D" compulsory in cooking oil and banaspatti ghee.
The Chairman, PVMA highlighted the important role of PSQCA and extended full cooperation to improve the implementation of the PSQCA policy.
The DG PSQCA also assured his full support in increasing the effectiveness and strengthening value of mandatory products.
