PARC directed to promote modern farming techniques

ISLAMABAD : National Assembly Standing Committee on Science and Technology directed Pakistan Agriculture Research Counci

pakistansISLAMABAD: National Assembly Standing Committee on Science and Technology directed Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC) to create awareness about modern techniques of farming and promotion of livestock to make it viable even for the small farmers to help enhance their production.

The Committee appreciating the performance of PARC directed it to run campaign through print and electronic media for highlighting their research activities.

However, the Committee expressed its concern over the lack of interaction with the provinces to facilitate them about the research activities being carried out at Federal level.

The Committee directed that management of PARC may develop proper interaction with the provinces for effective guideline and result-oriented performance at grass route level.

The Committee also directed that PARC may focus only on essential projects and ensure their completion within given time-frame.

The Committee decided to visit each attached department of PARC to witness their research activities, in future.

Earlier, Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad, Chairman, PARC briefly apprised the Committee about the mandate, scope of activities, and achievements made by the PARC and its attached department during the recent years and problems faced by them in this regard.

The meeting was attended by the following MNAs Mrs. Shamshad Sattar Bachani, Roshan-ud-Din Junejo, Pir Syed Fazal Ali Shah Jeelani, Rana Abdul Sattar, Mrs. Anusha Rehman Khan Advocate, Mian Riaz Hussain, Pirzada, Jamshaid Ahmad Dasti, Chaudhry Mahmood Bashir Virk, Malik Shakeel Awan, Dr. Nahid Shahid Ali and Ms. Shahnaz Saleem.
