Thirty two small dams to be built in next five years

ISLAMABAD: As many as 32 small dams are expected to be completed in next five years across the country which will give boost to agriculture sector.

Official source told APP here on Thursday that these dams would ensure adequate water availability for irrigation and would also help storage flood water in monsoon.

To a question, he said work on 12 dams has already begun under the first phase and the remaining 20 dams would be constructed in the second phase.

Sharing details, he said the six small dams would be completed in Kohat, Karak, Haripur, Nowshera and Charsadda (Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa) which would bring more agricultural land under cultivation in the province.

To another question, he said in Balochistan five large and medium size dams would be constructed.

Similarly, eight small dams would be constructed in Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock and Chakwal and other districts of Punjab.

He said that completion of these dams would bring green revolution in the the country.
