FAISALABAD: Jaranwala Bar Association (JBA) on Monday rescinded membership of 21 lawyers on charges of nonpayment of fee, non-practice and non-professional behaviour.
President JBA Tanveer Akhter Chaudhry said that their references had also been submitted before the Punjab Bar Council (PBC) for further action.
He said the JBA had taken action on the instructions of PBC to scrutinize non-practicing and non-professional lawyers as these were taking shelter under the umbrella of JBA by getting membership but actually they were running their businesses and other activities.
Among those lawyers whose membership has been rescinded included Bashir Ahmed, Asgher Ali, Muhammad Sarfraz, Khadim Hussain, Asif Iftkhar, Tikka Khan, Arslan Nafees, Munieb Farah Awan, Muhammad Khshif, M Asad, Nasir Abdullah, Ghulam Mustafa, Zil-E-Hummah, Hassnain Arif, Tabasum Iqbal, Bushrah Saleh, Abdul Qadoos and Rahila Kalsoom.
President JBA said that there would be zero tolerance for non-practicing lawyers and only professional lawyers would be permitted for membership.
