LONDON: An English third-tier match between London Skolars and Keighley was abandoned on Sunday after a Wales international suffered an on-field heart attack.
Danny Jones, playing for Keighley, was taken from the field in just the fourth minute of the match at Skolars' New River Stadium in north London, with an air ambulance among the medial teams called in to deal with a patient suffering from cardiac arrest.
A London Ambulance statement given to the Guardian newspaper on Sunday said: "We were called at 3:10pm (1410 GMT) today to an address on White Hart Lane.
"We sent a number of resources including London's Air Ambulance and two ambulance crews to the scene.
"The patient -- a man -- was in cardiac arrest.
"Extensive efforts were made to resuscitate him and he was taken by road ambulance to the Royal Free Hospital (in Hampstead, north London), with the air ambulance on board."
The match was subsequently abandoned after 16 minutes with Keighley leading 12-6.
