ICE canola climbs to third straight gain

WINNIPEG : ICE Canada canola futures rose on Monday for the third straight day, lifted by stronger prices for US grains

canolaWINNIPEG: ICE Canada canola futures rose on Monday for the third straight day, lifted by stronger prices for US grains and crude oil.

* November contract extended the longest winning streak for a nearby contract in one month.

* Commercial hedges were light - trader.

* November canola futures rose $5.30 at $555.50 per tonne on thin volume of 6,093 contracts.

* January canola gained $5.00 at $563.90 on volume of 1,391 contracts.

* November-January spread traded 1,362 times, settling at a January premium of $8.40.

* Chicago September soybeans settled up 15-3/4 US cents to US$13.43-1/2 per bushel, boosted by a weaker US dollar and dry US weather. September soyoi added 0.75 cent to 54.91 US cents per lb.

* The Canadian dollar was trading around $0.9810 to the US dollar, or US$1.0194 at 2:04 p.m. CDT (1904 GMT) up from Friday's close at $0.9907 to the US dollar, or US$1.0094.

* NYMEX crude oil settled up 2.9 percent at US$87.88 per barrel, rising with equities and on hopes of a resolution to the European debt crisis.
