Shipping activity at Port Qasim

imageKARACHI: Three ships C.V MSC Vidhi, C.V Safmarine Nagmai and M.T Autaurus carrying containers and palm oil were arranged berths at Qasim International Container Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively at Port Qasim (PQ) on Monday, port sources said here on Tuesday.

Two more ships with container and palm oil also arrived at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy was reported at the Port at 50% on Monday, where seven ships namely C.V MSC Vidhi, C.V Safmarine Nagmai, M.V NPS Mosa, M.V Kang Huan, M.T Maple, M.T Autaurus and M.T Al-Mahfoza occupied PQA berths to load/ offload containers, cement, rape seed, vegetable oil, palm oil and furnace oil respectively.

Cargo throughout during last 24 hours stood at 75,801 tonnes, comprising 59,822 tonnes imports and 15,979 tonnes export inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 2,050 containers (TEUs) (T,500 imports and 550 exports TEUs), a cargo volume of 56,567 tonnes, comprising 52,368 were handled at the port during the last 24 hours.

Oil tanker 'Al-Mahfoza' sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning and container ship 'MSC Vidhi' is expected to sail the same day afternoon.

Two container ships 'Hanjin Sandigo' and "Maersk Kolkata' are expected to take berths at Qasim International Container Terminal (Berth No, 5 & 7 respectively) on Tuesday, while two more container ships 'Maersk Kingston' and 'CMA CGM Mauopassal' are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Wednesday.
