Hydel generations jumps to 3,315 MW

imageISLAMABAD: The hydel generation has increased significantly due to more water discharge from Tarbela and Mangla dams which stood at 3,315 MW on Monday.

According to daily data released by National Transmission and Dispatch Company Limited (NTDC), the hydel generation stood at 3,315 MW, Thermal 1,265 and Independent Power Producers (IPPs) 4,720 MW.

The power shortfall also eased to 1,900 MW as the total generation was recorded as 9,300 MW against the demand of 11,200 MW at 0900 hours.

ROUSCH power plant has also started supplying 425 MW to the national grid system after restoration of gas supply to the plant.

Meanwhile, the Indus River System Authority (IRSA) released 103,300 cusecs water for various rim stations with inflow of 48,057 cusecs.

According to the data released by IRSA, water level in the Indus River at Tarbela Dam was 1449.40 feet, which was 71.40 feet higher than its dead level 1378 feet.

Water inflow in the dam was recorded as 17,300 cusecs while outflow was recorded as 48,000 cusecs.

The water level in the Jhelum River at Mangla Dam was 1133.10 feet, which was 133.10 feet higher than its dead level of 1040 feet whereas the inflow and outflow of water was recorded as 10,457 cusecs and 35,000 cusecs respectively.

The release of water at Kalabagh, Taunsa and Sukkur was recorded as 70,609, 51,768 and 34,115 cusecs respectively.

Similarly, from the Kabul River a total of 10,900 cusecs of water was released at Nowshera and 9,400 cusecs released from the Chenab River at Marala.
