Govt pays Rs221,362mn subsidy to power consumers, Senate told

ISLAMABAD: Government has paid Rs221,362 million subsidy to electricity consumers from April to November 2013, State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali told Senate.

Answering the questions of Senators, he said the government has paid Rs23,839 million subsidy in April 2013, Rs27,217 million in May, Rs31,928 million in June, Rs35,686 million in July, Rs35,324 million in August, Rs28,903 million in September, Rs22,377 million in October and Rs12,088 million subsidy had been paid to consumers in November 2013.

He said the government was making serious efforts to bridge the gap between cost of supply and consumer end tariff.
