KARACHI: Struggling batting duo of Muhammad Hafeez and Nasir Jamshed should take rest and play domestic cricket and work on their faulty technique before returning to play international cricket for Pakistan, said former captain Muhammad Yousuf.
"Its time for Hafeez and Nasir to take some rest in the series against South Africa and work on their technique and regain form before playing for Pakistan," he commented while talking to private television channel after Pakistan's 23-run victory over South Africa in Cape Town.
"We should not over celebrate things and should not forget our problems and gray areas in batting in recent areas," he maintained.
"There were large number of coaching staff travelling with the team. But they failed to sort out Pakistan team's consistent problem," legendary batsman questioned.
"I failed to understand what was going on in Pakistan cricket and because of lack of remedy, team's batting problems are worsening," he pointed out.
He said what Hafeez had achieved at the international cricket, scoring centuries against lowly ranked teams like Ireland and Zimbabwe.
Muhammad Hafeez has been made himself laughing stock after consistent failure against Protease speedster Dale Steyn, who dismissed him 14 times out of 20 matches this year.
Similarly, he said left handed Nasir Jamshed has not done anything significant after scoring two centuries against India last year.
"Nasir cannot stay in the team on basis of his past performances," legendary batting maestro Muhammad Yousuf, remarked.
He also advised to show courage by coming at number three spot instead of at number five position.
"Misbah is playing too many dot balls. He should lead the team from the front," he elaborated.
He rejected Misbah's theory, who will stop the rout if he was dismissed early. "This negative thinking and assumption," he added.
Muhammad Yousuf said Pakistan should strengthen their batting with seven batsmen which is their main problem instead of packing with bowlers.
He said off-break bowler Saeed Ajmal, who is world class bowler should be retained. However without taking Shahid Afridi' name, he said a bowler should be dropped to make way for batsman.
He reiterated for inclusion of Asad Shafiq in the team. He suggested that captain Misbah should bat at number three, Asad Shafiq at four, Sohaib Maqsood at five and Umark Akmal at 6th spot.
He said Allah blessed Pakistan talent which was evident with the brilliant show of Anwar Ali and Bilawal Bhatti.
