Pakistan Railways retrieves 27,04,750 acres land

imageISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways has retrieved around 27,04,750 acres land from illegal occupants across the country during its anti-encroachment campaign.

During the campaign started in February last year by the Railways, 2537.166 acres land out of total of 5662.667 acres encroached has been retrieved by upto June 23, 2013, an official told APP.

The new campaign started on June 24,2013 and another 172.350 acres land has been retrieved so far by the Pakistan Railways.

The official said that efforts are underway to retrieve the remaining encroached land from the illegal occupants.

To a question, he said, total length of railway track in Balochistan is 1202 km and no new railway track was laid in the province during the last five years.

To another question, the official said that feasibility study to link Deep Sea Gwadar Port with existing railway network has been completed.

The proposed route of Gwadar-Turbat-Hoshab-Panigur-Basima- Surab-Mastung is 901 km in length and Rs 180.163 billion has been submitted to Planning Commission for approval.

He said feasibility study for restoration of 295 kilometers Bostan-Zhob and its further extension of 210 kilometers from Zhob to Kotia Jam via D.I. Khan has been completed.
