KARACHI: David Bowie’s comeback album “Next Day” is the Number One album of the week and the fastest-selling album of the year, in the UK. Since released earlier this month, his album had sold 94000 copies, as reported by the Official Charts Company.
It seems that age has not robbed the music legend of his voice and creative talent! The album’s first single “Where Are We Now” hit the top 10 in UK’s Singles chart when it was revealed back in January.
This is his 9th No.1 on the UK album chart, the first being "Aladdin Sane" 40 years ago. “Next Day” is the 66-year-old’s 27th album and his first chart-topper since “Black Tie White Noise” in 1993.
Bowie and Bon Jovi were in competition for the week’s Billboard 200, a battle won by Bon Jovi with Bowie closing-in at No.2. This is Bowie’s best in Australia since “Let’s Dance” topped the charts three decades earlier.
Danny Boyle, Oscar-winning Director of “Slumdog Millionaire” reveals that he was very nervous when he went to meet the Golden Globe nominee in order to request him to perform at the 2012 Olympics opening ceremony, for which he was the Creative Honcho.
