CM Murad to present Sindh Budget 2020-21 today

Sindh's budget for the next financial year 2020-21 will be presented today at the Sindh Assembly.

The budget session of the Sindh Assembly will begin at 2:00 pm today and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, who is also the provincial finance minister, will present the provincial budget.

As per details, amid the spread of coronavirus, the rules and regulations of the Sindh Assembly were changed, after which members will be able to attend the meeting online from their homes.

Only 25 percent of members of the assembly will be present in the House during the session.

It was learned that earlier the pre-budget meeting of the Sindh cabinet would also be held in the Chief Minister's House in which the Sindh cabinet would approve the budget proposals.

Special arrangements have been made inside and outside the Sindh Assembly on the occasion of the budget meeting. Only those members of the Sindh Assembly whose Corona test result is negative will be able to enter the House.

Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro had informed that more funds would be allocated for health in the new provincial budget.

The federal government presented 'Corona' budget for the next fiscal year on Friday with a total outlay for the next fiscal year has been projected at Rs 7132 billion and total revenue at Rs 6573 billion with federal board of revenue share of Rs 4963 billion as opposed to Rs 3900 billion for the current fiscal year.

The GDP growth for the next fiscal year has been targeted at 2.1 percent with 6.5 percent inflation and current account deficit of 4.4 percent as well as to increase foreign direct investment (FDI) 25 percent.
