Amber Rudd wants British PM’s frontrunner Boris Johnson to give details of his Brexit plan

Britain's Work and Pensions secretary Amber Rudd, who supports Jermey Hunt in the run to become Britain's next prime minister, has called on Boris Johnson, the frontrunner in the race, to reveal evidence of his Brexit plan.

Rudd told BBC Radio 4's Today programme that while she appreciated Johnson's enthusiasm and his confident positivity, she still thinks that they are looking for the evidence of what Boris's plan is. Rudd added that she hopes Johnson will reveal more about his plans.

Earlier, speaking to the BBC’s political editor Laura Kuenssberg, Johnson said he would seek to deploy some creative ambiguity about when and how the £39 billion Brexit bill would be paid in order to secure a better deal from the EU.

However, Rudd was not convinced by this. “I don’t believe that’s enough, no. I think Boris needs to go further in explaining how he would do it. What happens on October 31 if, despite his great powers of persuasion, he has not managed to break this deadlock. We need to understand what the facts are underneath this,” she said.

Rudd further said that she finds it odd that Johnson had ignored live TV debates. She urged Johnson to reconsider his decision regarding live TV debates. "He is a great communicator, that is one of the things that people appreciate about Boris, so let's see more of him so we can understand what his plan is," she added. Sky News had cancelled a debate between Hunt and Johnson after the former secretary had said he would not take part in it.
