ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Shibli Faraz Tuesday assured that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was an independent institution and it was investigating the cases without political interference.
Talking to a private news channel, he said NAB Chairman Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal had appointed by the last Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government in consultation of Pakistan People’s Party.
He was of the view the PML-N and PPP leaders had looted the country’s wealth and the cases were registered against them during previous tenures.
Shibli Faraz said the PTI government was determined to hold accountability of all corrupt elements while accountability process had not carried out against such elements in the past.
He observed the PML-N wanted to create disturbance in smooth running of the Parliament.
Earlier, PML-N had raised issue of appointment of Chairman Public Accounts Committee (PAC) but now it wanted production orders, he added.
To a query, he said improving the national economy was top priority of the present government.
