BISP joins hands with Telenor Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: State-run Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) entered a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

ISLAMABAD: State-run Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) entered a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Telenor Pakistan (TP) and its subsidiary Telenor Micro Finance Bank (TMFB) at BISP Headquarters on Wednesday.

DG Complementary Initiatives Sajid Baloch from BISP, Ghulam H. Nasir National Director Sales (TP) and Khurram Malik Head of Branchless Banking (TMFB) signed the trilateral agreement on behalf of Telenor Group. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Secretary BISP Omar Hamid Khan alongwith senior management of BISP, a BISP official statement issued Wednesday evening said.

As per the MoU signed, in the pilot phase BISP and TP will collaborate to involve 20,000 female BISP beneficiaries to be employees as “Retailers” of GSM products and benefit from financial products of TP and TMFB. This will enable financial inclusion of the BISP beneficiaries to generate income from themselves.

Secretary Omar Hamid Khan termed the partnership as “Collective Social Responsibility” towards the betterment of society and good mix of Public Private Partnership as well.

Haroon Bhatti VP, TP who was representing the organization, said we are excited to join hands with BISP and committed to upscale the partnership to more districts of Pakistan.
