ISLAMABAD: Thousands of Balochi tribal elders gathered to observe the birth anniversary of their historical hero Mir Chakar Khan Rind known as Chakar-e-Azam at Satghara, Okara and called for peace in the region.
The speakers highlighted law and order situation in Balochistan saying that provision of basic rights to those tribes living in Balochistan from centuries, can bring peace and harmony in the region.
The participants delivered speeches on the life and struggle of Chakar-e-Azam (1468 - 1565) who was a Baloch, head of Rind tribe and ruler of Satghara in Southern Punjab during the 15th century.
He became the head of Rind tribe at the age of 18. Mir Chakar and Mir Gwaharam Khan Lashari, head of the Lashari tribe, went to war that resulted in thousands dead, including Mir Chakar's brother.
After the "Thirty Years' War", Rind Tribe Defeated the Lashari Tribe, Mir Chakar left Balochistan and settled in the Punjab in 1518.
Afghan King Sher Shah Suri approached Mir Chakar to unite with him to consolidate his gains. Mir Chakar appreciated the offer but refused to help Sher Shah Suri and managed to elude Afghan armies.
Mir chakar khan ruled this territory until he died in 1565. Mir Chakar Khan tomb is situated in Satghara Punjab.
In Baloch history, this time was very eventful period as Baloch fought series of wars amongst themselves. The result of these tribal conflicts not only caused large-scale bloodshed but also resulted in their mass migrations to the Punjab, Sindh and Gujrat (India).
A natural leader and warrior, Mir Chakar Rind was a man with resolute determination. A class of Balochis even regards him having been invested with saintly virtues and mystic powers.
Among prominent speakers, Mian Nasir Baloch, Naseer Ahmed Rind, Ishaq Baloch, Danish Baloch and many others expressed their views.
