Shares in miner Equinox soar 28 percent on Minmetals offer

SYDNEY?: The Australian-listed shares of copper miner Equinox Minerals jumped 28 percent following a $6.5 billion takeover bid from China's Minmetals Resources Equinox Sydney-listed stock was up A$1.62 at A$7.32 ($7.61)shortly after the shares resumed trading on Monday.

Minmetals said earlier Monday it would offer C$7($7.215) per share for Equinox on the condition that the target company dropped its offer for Lundin ($1 = 0.970 Canadian Dollars) ($1 = 0.962 Australian Dollars).
